Code of Conduct

Creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants — Fort Myers ITSM Insights Meetup.

Last updated: March 05, 2026 (v1.5) Effective: March 05, 2026

The Fort Myers ITSM Insights Meetup is dedicated to providing a welcoming, professional, harassment-free experience for everyone — regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, neurodiversity, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, age, professional role, veteran status, or any other characteristic. We do not tolerate harassment, abusive behavior, or disruption in any meetup-related context, including in-person events, email, social media groups, LinkedIn discussions, or other associated channels.

Important: Participation in any meetup activity constitutes agreement to this Code of Conduct. Organizers reserve the right to take any action deemed necessary — including immediate removal from an event without refund and temporary or permanent exclusion from future participation — to protect the safety and comfort of attendees.

1. Expected Behavior

  • Act with courtesy, respect, and professionalism at all times.
  • Use inclusive language and be mindful of how words and actions affect others.
  • Listen actively and value diverse viewpoints and experiences.
  • Help newcomers and underrepresented participants feel welcome.
  • Respect personal space, boundaries, and explicit consent in all interactions.

2. Unacceptable Behavior

Harassment and exclusionary conduct will not be tolerated. Examples include:

  • Derogatory comments or jokes based on gender, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, disability, neurodiversity, race, ethnicity, religion, age, appearance, or other personal characteristics.
  • Unwelcome sexual advances, innuendo, flirtation, or sexualized comments/images.
  • Intimidation, stalking, following, unwanted physical contact, or invasion of personal space.
  • Sustained disruption of talks, Q&A, discussions, or networking time.
  • Threats (real or implied), bullying, doxxing, or targeted online harassment related to the group.
  • Publishing private messages or emails without consent.
  • Any behavior a reasonable person would consider threatening, hostile, or unsafe.

3. Event-Specific Rules

  • Comply with all venue policies and instructions (including safety, capacity, and conduct rules).
  • Do not interrupt presentations, Q&A, or group discussions excessively.
  • Respect time limits and allow others equal opportunity to speak.
  • No aggressive sales pitches, spamming, or unrelated solicitation.

4. Alcohol & Substance Use

Some events may include light refreshments or be held at venues serving alcohol. Excessive consumption leading to disruptive, unsafe, or harassing behavior is not permitted and may result in immediate removal. Attendees are responsible for their own alcohol consumption and must comply with local laws and venue rules. The meetup and organizers are not responsible for any alcohol-related incidents or personal safety issues.

5. Photos, Video & Recordings

Group photos and brief videos may be taken during events for promotional use (website, social media, recaps). Attendance constitutes consent to appear in such materials unless you explicitly inform an organizer in advance or at the event that you wish to be excluded. We will make reasonable efforts to respect such requests. Do not photograph or record individuals or presentations without explicit permission from those involved. By participating, you grant the meetup a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use images/videos featuring you for non-commercial promotional purposes related to the group.

6. Accessibility & Accommodations

We strive to make events accessible. Please notify us in advance of any accessibility needs (mobility, hearing, vision, dietary, etc.) so we can make reasonable accommodations where possible. We follow venue accessibility guidelines and encourage attendees to report barriers they encounter.

7. Reporting Violations

If you experience, witness, or are concerned about a violation of this Code:

  • Contact an organizer immediately during the event (Ryan Holzer or designated staff).
  • Email ryan@tidelineinsights.com with as much detail as possible (date, time, location, description, individuals involved, witnesses).
  • Anonymous reports are accepted and will be handled confidentially — though anonymity may limit our ability to fully investigate or follow up.

All reports are taken seriously and reviewed promptly and impartially.

8. Consequences of Violations

Depending on severity, violations may result in:

  • Verbal or written warning
  • Immediate removal from the current event (no refund)
  • Temporary or permanent suspension from events and group communication channels
  • Reporting to venue security, law enforcement, or relevant online platforms when behavior is illegal or threatens safety

Decisions are made at the sole discretion of the organizers and are final.

9. Scope, Enforcement & Discretion

This Code applies to all meetup-related contexts: in-person events, online discussions (email, social media, chat groups), and associated interactions. It covers attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and organizers alike. Organizers and leaders are held to the same or higher standards.

The organizers reserve the right to refuse entry, remove individuals, or take other actions without prior warning or explanation when they believe it is necessary to protect the safety, comfort, or integrity of the event or group. This Code does not cover conduct unrelated to meetup activities unless it directly affects group safety or participation.
